Tiffany Burks for Tarrant County District Attorney

Serious About Safety Transition Team

From the Serious About Safety Tour to action.

I launched the Serious About Safety Tour because the people of Tarrant County deserved a District Attorney who would come to them first. The tour brought together residents, victims and survivors, faith leaders, and community members in neighborhoods across the county to talk about what safety and justice should look like here. Those conversations shaped our platform, and voters chose that new direction.

Now it’s time to put that work into action.

The transition team is organized into four working groups that will develop practical recommendations to strengthen the District Attorney’s Office, address policy and community safety priorities, support victims, and uphold fair and effective prosecution throughout Tarrant County.

  1. Office Readiness & Professional Excellence
Office structure, staffing, training, budget, technology, and day-to-day operations.

  2. Public Safety & Fair Prosecution
Prosecution policies, serious crime, and consistent, fair decision-making grounded in the facts and the law.

  3. Victim Support & Safety
Communication, safety planning, and access to services and support for victims and survivors.

  4. Community Safety & Trust
Community input, prevention, partnership, and regular reporting to the public on our progress.

Safety and justice must guide this transition and the work that follows. The community helped build this vision, and the community will help carry it forward.

LEND YOUR EXPERTISE

The Serious About Safety Tour was built on your voices. Now we need your expertise.

We are inviting experienced leaders to serve on the transition team’s working groups, including nonprofit and community leaders, faith leaders, legal and justice-system professionals, university faculty and researchers, and leaders of organizations already doing this work in Tarrant County. Working group members will bring the knowledge and experience needed to turn community priorities into practical recommendations for the District Attorney’s Office.

EMAIL YOUR RESUME TO INFO@TIFFANYBURKSFORDA.COM WITH THE SELECTED WORKING GROUP YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN.

Expertise also comes from lived experience. Community members and justice-impacted individuals who want to serve do not need a resume. Tell us about yourself and why you want to be involved.
